Buyers:

 

Q. I can’t attend the auction but I see something I want to bid on.  Can I bid absentee?

A. Yes.  You don’t have to be present to bid on items.  See our Absentee Bid page for more information.

 

Q. What is a “Buyer’s Premium”?

A. Virtually all auction houses charge buyers – the winning bidder - a percentage amount on top of the purchase price, which goes to covering the expenses incurred for merchandising, marketing, and achieving a final sale.  At Auction 84, the Buyer’s Premium is 15%.

 

Q. Do you charge buyers a Florida sales tax?

A. Under Florida law, all purchases are subject to a Sales tax unless you have a Tax Exemption Certificate.  If you have a Tax Exemption Certificate, you must provide us with a copy prior to payment.

 

Q. Can you provide delivery for items I purchase at the auction?

A. Auction 84 staff can be engaged by you independently to deliver items that you purchase, usually within 1-3 days.  Delivery rates typically begin at $40.00, and vary depending on the size of your items, distance, and number of stairs involved.

 

Q. Do you guarantee any items I purchase?

A. Auction 84 is in the business of liquidating items for people seeking an immediate sale.  All items are sold “as is” and we do not guarantee them.  Rest assured, however, that our reputation is extremely important to us and we would never knowingly misrepresent or misinform our buying customers about anything we are contracted to sell.  We also hold two days of previews so that our buyers can thoroughly inspect all items.

A. For over 30 years as a family-owned business, Auction 84 has achieved a reputation for integrity and customer satisfaction.  And unlike other auction services, Auction 84 specializes in all kinds of items for the home: anything from everyday furniture and household items to antiques and automobiles. If you need to sell it, Auction 84 can help.

 

Q. Why shouldn’t I just try to sell my items myself?

A. Often people come to us after spending a lot of time and expense trying to sell their items on their own.  They have had to field many phone calls and deal with strangers in their home without successfully selling their items.  Auction 84 provides a weekly auction attended by hundreds of serious buyers, greatly increasing the likelihood of a sale without any inconveniences or hassles.

 

Q. What types of items do you have in your auction?

A. Auction 84 handles a wide variety of items - including some things other auction houses don’t. This includes all types of furniture from antiques to everyday furniture (new or used), tools, décor items, porcelain, china, jewelry, cars, exercise and sporting goods, collectibles and appliances.  In the past 30 years, there’s hardly anything we haven’t sold!

 

Q. Is there any charge to pick up my items?

A. No, there’s never a charge for pickup.  For smaller items, we recommend you bring them directly to our warehouse yourself and thereby get the best consignment rates.

 

Q. What happens if my items don’t sell at the auction?

A. Due to the fact that we have hundreds of serious buyers attending our auctions every week, unsold items are rare. Even if an item doesn’t sell at the first auction, we will put it up at subsequent auctions and achieve a high sell-through rate.
